Local film Helps Sails Up 4 Cancer
For one night only on September 22nd at 6:30 pm on Channel 12 SEC-Tv Groton Ct there will be made for T.V. viewing of International Award winning film “Silent Times” https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6058070/ The story centers on Oliver Henry III (played by Geoff Blanchette) turned vaudeville theater owner. From humble beginnings in Ireland, he immigrates to the US in search of happiness and fast cash. The film is a loving homage to the silent films of the 1920s and 30s, and features a wide cast of characters based on archetypes and personalities common in those films. The showing is fundraiser to benefit Sails up 4 Cancer, a charity organization dedicated to funding research in the education, prevention, care and cure for all types of cancer through the art and enjoyment of sailing. This is accomplished through the art and enjoyment of sailing. Sails Up runs multiple events though out the year with the Annual Regatta and Canvases for a Cause Art Show among the post prominent. Sails Up 4 Cancer has partnered with many local and national organizations to help raise awareness and facilitate our fundraising efforts. Sails Up 4 Cancer has been able to assist many local cancer care centers such as Hospice Organizations, our local Cancer Care Hospital, children afflicted with cancer, and both individuals and families struggling financially while battling cancer. “We are proud to say that all the profits for this fundraiser will be going to www.su4c.org Its our duty to give back to our community as much as we can” said Producers Christopher Annino and Angel Orsini.
The film stars WWE Legend Brian Blair, WWE Legend Ron Bass, Queen of the Paranormal Kadrolsha Ona Carole, Star of Kick Ass 2 Olga Kurkulina, Comedian Skip Daniels, creator of the Electric Slide Dance Ric Silver, NPC Physique Champion Nikki Moccia, ECW legend Angel Orsini. The film also features talent from Groton, Norwich, New London and Westerly such as Brian Olsen, Anna Convery, Sinthea Sinatra, Enzio Marchello, Veronica Convery, Bill McNally, Tyquan Anderson, and Robert Doc Bell
The film is the first silent feature film of its kind in over 80 years and was filmed locally by Groton resident Christopher Annino. The film was co-written by Westerly resident Geoff Blanchette. “Silent Times” has won numerous international awards such as Best Feature/ Best Director-Mindfield Film Festival Albuquerque, Best Silent-Oniros Film festival, Best Picture-Royal Wolf, Best Picture-Pinnacle Film Awards, and West Coast International Film Festival-Grand Jury Award Best Comedy, and was selected to the Academy Award qualifying Bermuda International Film Festival..
