SUMMARY:Share The Love
DESCRIPTION:Sails Up 4 Cancer is proud to be part of the Subaru America Share the Love campaign in conjunction with Holmgren Subaru\, 3 New Park Ave\, N. Franklin\, CT. \nFor the 16th year\, Subaru’s Signature Philanthropic Event Returns with Longtime National Charity Partners: the ASPCA®\, Make-A-Wish®\, Meals on Wheels America\, and the National Park Foundation as well as over 800 local hometown charities. \nBy the end of this year’s event\, Subaru and its participating retailers aim to reach a cumulative total of more than $285 million in donations. \n  \n“Each year\, our Subaru community comes together for the Subaru Share the Love Event\, collectively supporting causes that make an incredible impact on both a national and local scale. This event is at the heart of what makes us More Than a Car Company\,” said Jeff Walters\, President and Chief Operating Officer\, Subaru of America\, Inc. “Our customers inspire us\, and we are excited to offer them another chance to give back to the causes that are closest to their hearts heading into this holiday season.” \n  \nFor every new Subaru vehicle purchased or leased at any of the more than 630 Subaru retailers from November 16\, 2023\, through January 2\, 2024\, Subaru will donate $250 to the purchaser’s choice of charities. Retailers can also add up to two hometown charities in their local communities to receive an additional $50 or more for each vehicle sold or leased.  \nSU4C\, founded in 2011\, is a 501(c)3 non profit corporation based in Mystic. Over the years SU4C has donated over $250\,000 to a variety of research centers\, hospitals\, hospice care\, and individuals dealing with all types of cancer. \n“Don’t lose sight of the fact that the Holmgren team has educated their customers about Sails Up. Customers have a variety of options as far as where the donations go but has chosen Sails Up 4 Cancer to keep their gift local within the community and supports the Sails Up mission\,” explained Ken Scanzio\, Subaru District Sales Manager.  \nBob Davis\, CEO of SU4C has partnered with the Holmgren team for numerous years on a variety of projects. “Bob has been a personal friend and he is passionate about Sails Up\, it is impossible not to get involved and be supportive when the leader is someone who has not only survived two cancers but works incredibly hard to raise funds for future research and individual cancer care. I am proud to be a part of such a great organization\,” said Eric Holmgren. \nSince the launch of the Subaru Share the Love Event in 2008\, Subaru of America\, Inc. and its participating retailers have donated more than $256 million and supported over 2\,100 hometown charities to help those in need. \nSave the date for the Sails Up Regatta & Cornhole Tournament the weekend of June 14-15\, 2024 at Mystic Shipyard. \nFor more information\, please visit. www.SU4C.org and subaru.com/share \n###  \nFor further press info.\, please contact Courtney Moore\, courtney@cmbcreativegroup.com • 860/536.5870

SUMMARY:Book Launch & Art Show
DESCRIPTION:Author Sandi Gold was told by five neurologists she had less than a year to live. Decades later\, her oncologist insisted that she have a mastectomy. She declined and with no doctor’s help – just five months later – was cancer-free. Exactly how she accomplished this is explained in her new book\, I Chose Love: How to Thrive After a Life-threatening Illness Using Love to Guide You. Emmy-winning journalist\, and New York Times best-selling author Catherine Crier wrote\, A brief encounter can impact the rest of your life. A few days with Sandi\, when she faced her terminal diagnosis\, forever altered my perspectives on life\, death\, love\, and the meaning we impart to our time on earth” The foreword is written with Dr. Bernie Siegel who called Sandi “a survivor and thriver.” \nHer book launch is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on December 6 in the Hoxie Gallery in the Westerly Library. She painted the painting on her cover which will be bid on by silent auction this same night. When this painting sells (Bidding will end at 6:45.)\, Sandi will donate 50% to Sails Up 4 Cancer. Sandi will also have T-Shirts\, sweatshirts and even onesies\, mugs\, and posters for sale on her website – sandigold.com. Each will have a photo of her book cover on it. From December 6th through February 14th Sandi is donating 10% from all these sales to Sails Up 4 Cancer too. \nSandi will be available to answer questions at her book launch\, at her “Author’s Talk” in the library on January 13th and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. to noon at the Fresh Cup Café\, 9 East Street\, Westerly\, RI beginning December 11\, where books may also be purchased.
